it4ip track-etched membranes are manufactured from high-quality polycarbonate, polyester or polyimide™ film; they have a smooth flat surface, a narrow pore size distribution and a well-controlled pore shape.
They exhibit excellent chemical resistance and thermal stability can be significantly strengthened (350°C - 660°F) by the use of polyimide™-based track-etched membrane.

With a standard thickness range from 10 to 25 microns (availability up to 100 microns), track-etched membranes are available in a broad range of well-defined pore sizes and pore densities, and are characterised by a high flow rates.

PORE SIZE & PORE SHAPE
Track-etching process produces a membrane with precise pore size and narrow pore size distribution for an accurate separations by particle size. Pore size is usually between -20 and 0% of the nominal pore size while the intralot variance for pore size is typically lower than 5%.
Pore shape can be also contolled by the track-etching process and truly cylindrical pores can be reached when required.
Although most track-etched membranes have a structure in which the pores are not perpendicular to the membrane surface, membrane with parallel pores can be also manufacture; this is relevant for application requiring light microscopy.
